2023 Walk to the Lighthouse for Mental Health & Addictions

Our walk on September 24th, 2023 was a huge success! Thank you to all who participated.  We raised just over our $50,000 goal and had close to 300 people attend, sending a strong message regarding the importance of mental health and addictions care and support in our community. 98% of the funds raised were  donated directly to Mental Health and Addiction infrastructure and services at Joseph Brant Hospital.

The event was well attended by dignitaries who came out to speak and support our cause. A huge thank you to all who walked and/or donated money. We want to acknowledge and thank our many sponsors who supported the walk. Through generous donations we were able to keep our costs to a minimum which allowed us to raise even more money for Mental Health and Addiction Services at Joseph Brant Hospital.

We have already started to plan for  our 2024 Walk to the Lighthouse and it will be on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at 1pm.  We hope to see you all there plus many more as we are anticipating next year’s event, scheduled for Sunday September 22 2024, being even bigger and better!

PFAC Committee Spring Meeting

JBH's Patient Family and Caregiver (PFAC) Advisory Committee met on March 21, 2023 for the first time in person since the onset of the pandemic. The team enjoyed a lovely dinner graciously hosted by Jane Clementino, reviewed committee priorities, and most importantly, reconnected with friends and colleagues after several years of Zoom committee meetings.

EQUILIBRIUM HALTON

Equilibrium Halton is a peer support group for people and their families with mental health challenges. We strive to provide safe, non-judgemental learning environment and meeting place for anyone who may benefit from peer support that wishes to attend.

The purpose of the group is to help people gain a better understanding of mental health conditions, to offer non-judgemental support and to share experiences.

Our Group meets on the second Tuesday of every month from September to June in southeast Oakville. Meetings run from 7.00 PM to 9:00 PM with the first hour dedicated to education, a speaker from a local mental health expert and the second hour to discussion in small groups.

No registration or membership is required. Everyone is welcomed. Just show up! Operating costs are covered by small donations at meetings.

*Equilibrium Halton created in 2026 to merge the volunteer peer support work and community outreach efforts of Equilibrium Oakville (1991), Equilibrium Burlington (2016) and Equilibrium Georgetown (2011). Please see our About page for more information about these organizations and the work they have contributed over the years leading to the formation of Equilibrium Halton.
